The deeper chilled wines can be served as an aperitif glass. They are often offered as an accompaniment to appetizers, especially foie gras pate. Dry Tramines are recommended with onion tart or smoked fish or eel. Sweet selections with residual unfermented sugar are suitable with blue mould cheeses or with sheep or goat cheeses at the end of a meal. With its unusual aroma and full lychee flavour, Tramin is one of the few wines that can be paired with spicy food. Therefore, Tramin wines can also be served with some exotic, strongly spiced Asian dishes, or with sweet meat preparations. Very sweet Tramin wines are often served at the end of a meal with sweet desserts such as cheesecake or plum cake.
